Unlike a sensor, a detector determines the alarm status on its own.
Detectors autonomously determine when an alarm condition occurs and output an alarm signal. The primary function of a sensor, on the other hand, is to transmit status signals. A higher-level device determines whether an alarm condition exists. For this reason, detector systems are typically one-way communication systems, whereas sensor systems, such as our ADPLEX system, can be upgraded to two-way communication systems. In other words, a sensor can manage a much larger amount of information compared to a detector.
