If you want to emphasize aesthetics and avoid disturbances…,
Passive infrared detectors can be roughly categorized into two types: wall-mounted type and ceiling-mounted type. The wall-mounted detectors are often used, especially in older buildings made of stone, where the ceilings are high and there is no space to hide the wiring. However, with wall-mounted detectors, the arming direction can be revealed, and there is a risk of interference such as an intruder changing the arming direction while the detector is already disarmed or cutting the exposed wiring. Of course, there are also concerns about the negative impact in using the wall-mounted type on the interior aesthetics. For this reason, we recommend the using ceiling-mounted passive detector whenever possible. The ceiling-mounted detectors avoid the risks of wall-mounted detectors as mentioned here.
